The Road Map to Buying your first home!

What is the perfect house?  Where do we want to live?  What should we offer?  What comes next?  My friends and family are saying this.  When you are thinking of buying your first home or your second or third a million things are going through your head.  At The Reuter Team, our Realtor’s guide you through the process one step at a time making your transition to home ownership easy!  That’s right, we said easy!

First Contact – Our agents start working for you at first contact listening to your needs, wants, and any questions you may have.  We schedule a ‘meet and greet’.

Meet and Greet – This is an informational casual meeting.

  • Our goal is to tell you more about us, what we have to offer, and to learn more about you and your family.
  • Go over the home buying process from start to finish to give you a general idea of what to expect as we navigate through the process.  This includes financing, different contingencies, market conditions, and buyer agency.  Don’t worry, we only talk about buyer agency.  You are not signing any paperwork or contracts!
  • Review timelines.  We work backwards from any leases or obligations you have and set target dates of when you should start looking for homes, when you should have an accepted offer by, etc.
  • The last part is the best part!  This is where we talk about your dream home!  We make a list of must haves, wants, and explore the market to show you what is available.

The next steps will vary depending on your individual situation and the targeted dates we set.  Typically we will get you in touch with one of our preferred lenders to start  pre-approval process.  Once we get the green light from the lender we start scheduling showings!  This is by far the most fun part of the process besides the day when you get you close and get your keys.  Let’s schedule your meet and greet!  Contact John Reuter 608-669-4226 or e-mail

Start Exploring the Market with HomeScout!

27067779_2121835308044756_2890819372296055970_nHomeScout is most advanced Home Search available.  HomeScout directly connects to the MLS, so you are seeing the same information that a Realtor gets.  HomeScout filters homes that have accepted offers and that are sold so you only see properties that are available.  The other major advantage is with HomeScout is you create an account and your information is secure and remains private.  Other apps such as Zillow,, and Trulia capture your information and sell it to the highest paying Realtor.   Those sites also have homes that have accepted offers, were never on the market, and that are sold.
